WebCBT works by changing people’s attitudes and their behavior. It focuses on the thoughts‚ images‚ beliefs and attitudes that we hold (our cognitive processes) and how this relates to the way we behave and deal with our emotional problems. Webin CBT, such as the ‘Third Wave’ therapies (Hayes, 2004), are exciting developments that have the potential to enrich CBT greatly, our aim here is primarily to provide a foundation for ‘basic’ CBT.We therefore restrict our consideration of those developments to a separate chapter (Chapter 17).
